I am so happy to announce that the Wednesday evening Exploration Gatherings will return May 7 at 6:30pm in person at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Fairbanks (UUFF). We will meet weekly from 6:30pm – 7:30 pm. The meeting has been shortened by one half hour so you can enjoy the sunshine before and after. It’s a great way to jump start your mid-week and get inspiration to take you into the weekend.
There will be slight changes in the format: shorter time, later start, in person, ten minute talk with a discussion following, and spiritual practice like chanting, meditation, etc. We will also be using the themes from Centers for Spiritual Living. I’ll publish those in advance so you can think about them before the meeting. The theme for May is “Raise Your Voice.”
This month, we will explore the profound impact of self-advocacy, boundary setting, and conflict resolution on our personal and collective well-being. This comprehensive exploration underlines concepts that are essential for creating a more connected, just, and harmonious world.
I intend to publish my “talks” from each week in a blog entry on the website. That way you can catch up if you missed the live meeting. Please accept my heartfelt invitation to appear in person so you don’t miss out on the rich discussion and spiritual practice.
Yours with excitement,
Rev. Jim Rigsbee
Raise your voice
Many of us were taught as young children not to raise our voice. It was considered rude. But you can raise your voice without yelling and screaming. Indeed, we can speak our truth quietly, even silently at times.
Speaking your truth is an inside job at first. You ponder your position, consider your boundaries, and vow to resolve conflict in a peaceful way. Develop a calm approach within yourself. Next, let action flow from a confident place within your heart.
We share our voice with others. Join in the discussion. Meet others with openness. Raising your voice doesn’t have to create conflict or impose your view on others. It is a movement forward in peace and truth, leading by example.
